Contractors and Journeyworkers
The life blood of any organization is expanding the membership to facilitate growth. The same is true for the Minnesota Pipe Trades Association and it's member unions.
The primary responsibility of our organizing department is the recruitment of non-union workers and contractors. In addition to that, we are dedicated to educating our members, unrepresented workers, non-union contractors and the general public pertaining to our member unions and their efforts to grow the market. We also work with our contractors, training directors, and union officers to coordinate marketing efforts and community outreach as well as advancing the skill and productivity of our work force to the benefit of our entire industry.

Apprenticeship Programs
If you have little or no experience in the pipe trades, and you are interested in becoming a Plumber, Pipefitter, or Sprinklerfitter, you will want to look into joining the appropriate registered apprenticeship program. Plumbers & Gasfitters
The work of the plumber is to install piping for waste, venting, water supply, rain water disposal, medical gasses, and fuel gasses, as well as the installation of fixtures in homes and businesses and the protection of the potable water supply through modern back flow prevention technologies.
Plumbers also service water softeners, water heaters, other residential gas appliances, and more.

Pipefitters & Steamfitters
Pipefitters install, maintain, and repair high and low pressure steam systems, high and low pressure hot water systems, snow melt systems, refrigeration systems, comfort heating, gas and oil piping, pneumatic, electronic controls, air conditioning and also provide instrumentation and valve repair.
Pipefitters work in many different commercial and industrial environments including: crude oil and ethanol refineries, chemical and municipal processing plants, fossil fuel and nuclear power plants, and more.
